Sketch released after woman beaten on forest preserve trail

NILES, Ill. — A sketch was released Thursday morning following an attack of a woman walking on a forest preserve trail last week in Niles.

Just after 1:45 p.m. on Friday, a 31-year-old woman was walking on the North Branch Trail at Bunker Hill, between Touhy and Howard.

The woman was then approached by a man on a bicycle who struck her several times with a blunt object, according to police. She was transported in serious condition to Lutheran General Hospital.

Police believe the man is Hispanic, approximately 5’6″ to 5’8″, with a thin build, dark curly hair and a dark complexion. Police said he is between the ages of 24 and 30 and was riding a short, dark bicycle and had on a black backpack.
