SJSO identifies body recovered from Mississippi River in Garyville

GARYVILLE, La. (WGNO) — Deputies with the St. John the Baptist Parish Sheriff’s Office have identified a body that was recovered from the Mississippi River in Garyville.

On April 24, the SJSO reported deputies responded to a call of a body floating in the Mississippi River around 8:30 a.m.

SJSO officials said deputies and the West St. John Fire Department later removed “the body of a man, badly decomposed” from the river near the levee in Edgar.

On Tuesday, April 30, the SJSO identified the body as that of Keith Cammon Jr.

SJSO officials said Cammon was reported missing on Feb. 16 after his car was found abandoned on the Veterans Memorial Bridge.
