Six counties respond to fire at lumberyard in Nelson County

NELSON COUNTY, Va. (WFXR) — Every fire department in Nelson County and several more from outside responded to a lumberyard fire Sunday, according to Lovingston Volunteer Fire crews who shared photos of the blaze.

Crews were called to the scene around 5:45 a.m. on Feb. 4, for a smoke investigation but say they found a working structure fire at a commercial lumberyard in Arrington. They did not share the name of the business.

Lovingston Volunteer Fire Department (LVFD) says an “all county” page was sent out to bring more water and hands to the scene. Amherst, Albemarle, Campbell, Buckingham, and Appomattox counties also sent assistance. LVFD adds that crews used nearly 100,000 gallons of water to put out the flames.
