Six Central Jersey school districts sharing $9 million in grants for renovations
Six Central Jersey school districts are sharing about $9 million in state grants to help pay for improvements to school buildings, the New Jersey Schools Development Authority has announced.
North Plainfield
Total projects cost: $6,639,319; state share: $4,292,671; local share: $2,346,647.
East End School roof: $307,592 (total cost)
North Plainfield High School roof: $1.2 million
North Plainfield High School HVAC upgrades: $1.9 million
Somerset School HVAC upgrades: $488,200
Stony Brook School HVAC upgrades: $2.4 million
Stony Brook School roof: $389,637
Bound Brook
Total projects cost: $4,635,040; state share: $3,069,875 million; local cost: $1,565,164.
Bound Brook High School boiler: $991,200
Lafayette School boiler: $970,800
LaMonte Annex boiler: $838,800
Smalley School boiler: $1.8 million
Highland Park
Highland Park High School roof: $632,047
Irving School roof: $144,650

The awards are part of a $450 million statewide funding program announced in September.
Between state and local contributions, the total project costs of the eligible projects across the state are estimated to exceed $1 billion.
In all, since the state program has started, North Plainfield has been awarded more than $21 million in grants; Hillsborough has been given $9.1 million; Highland Park has received $9.4 million; Bound Brook has received $3.8 million; Alexandria received $2 million and Delaware has gotten $3.2 million.
