Six arrested for alleged retail theft at Walmart
HAZLE TWP., LUZERNE COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU) — State police report that eight people were arrested after being accused of retail thefts at a Walmart in Luzerne County.
According to Pennsylvania State Police, troopers responded to Walmart in Hazle Township for separate retail theft incidents throughout March.
On March 8 around 10:20 p.m., troopers were called for a reported retail theft. Police say a 33-year-old woman from Berwick entered Walmart, took a beach tote, hid multiple clothing and household items, and swapped price tags with lower value onto higher valued items.
Then on March 12, troopers were called to arrest a 62-year-old man from Hazleton who stole $62.29 worth of items. On the same day around 5:00 p.m., troopers say a 24-year-old man from Hazleton stole $108.89 worth of Pokemon cards.
Eight arrested for alleged retail theft at Walmart
Two days later on March 14 around 4:25 p.m., police were called for reports of retail theft. Troopers said a 26-year-old woman from Hazle Township placed un-scanned items in a Walmart shopping bag and tried to leave the store.
On March 16 around 3:00 p.m., troopers were called for a 34-year-old man from Conygham, committing retail theft at Walmart worth $75.50. The man was later found to be wanted by the Luzerne County Sheriff’s Department on DUI charges.
Around 9:40 p.m. the same day a 41-year-old woman from Hazleton was caught stealing $97.68 worth of items from the Hazle Township Walmart.
All six suspects have been charged through the district court.
