Ukrainian forces have “partially stabilized” the front in northern Kharkiv Oblast, where Russian troops continue attempts to push towards Kharkiv City, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said in his May 15 evening address.

He specified that Ukrainian units continue to defend settlements in the region, particularly Vovchansk.

“Our defense continues; today, our Defense Forces — every unit involved — managed to partially stabilize the situation,” said Zelenskyy.

“The occupiers who entered Kharkiv Oblast are being destroyed with all available means: artillery, drones, and our infantry are working with precision. I thank each and every one who is currently [fighting] on the positions.”

He added that he had been briefed on the situation on other segments of the frontline, with special attention given to Kupiansk, Kharkiv Oblast, and Pokrovsk, Donetsk Oblast.

“We clearly see how the enemy is trying to divert our forces and reduce the concentration of our combat unites,” the president said.

“We respond exactly as needed — on each front, we have a response for the enemy.”
