Sit back and enjoy the most gorgeous time-lapse video you’ve ever seen

There’s just something about time-lapse videos that mesmerizes us, but despite companies like Apple building time-lapse recording features right into their devices, not everyone is skilled enough to actually make a decent one. Filmmaker and adventurer Morten Rustad, on the other hand, is more than qualified, with years of experience under his belt and some extremely impressive videos to his credit. His latest is his best yet, taking an absolutely mind-boggling 28 months to create from scratch.

The nearly seven minute video, titled simply Seasons of Norway, is a breathtaking glimpse at the most gorgeous scenery the country has to offer. From melting snow and frosty fog to stunning sunsets and plenty of fast-moving clouds, the video is like a mini vacation that you can take whenever you want.

“20,000 kilometers have been travelled, 200,000 photos taken and 20 terabytes worth of hard drives filled,” Rustad explains in the video’s description. “Months have been spent hiking through the mountains, sleeping in tents and traveling through the entire country hunting for the best locations.”

The video’s 28-month production time was split between a year of planning, a second year of actual filming, and then a full four months of editing it all together. I think I speak for everyone when I say that it was totally worth it. Rustad also published an extremely fascinating “Behind The Scenes” showcasing how the film was made, and it gives you a real appreciation for how much work goes into a video such as this.
