Sioux Falls locals Chelsea and Cole DeBoer of HGTV reality show, "Down Home Fab," are back for a second season.

The season 2 premiere will air this week at 8 p.m. March 21 on HGTV. Simultaneously, the couple’s new brick-and-mortar home decor and furniture store, Down Home by DeBoers, will open its doors the following day at 9 a.m. March 22 in Tea.

As far as what to expect from the show’s second season, viewers can look forward to bigger builds and a larger variety of bold designs.

“I definitely feel like we are more relaxed and confident — we weren’t as worried about everything,” Chelsea DeBoer told the Argus Leader. “It shows us and our personality more.”

Cole DeBoer said they “weren’t so worried about proving themselves” this season.

The premiere opens with a single dad who wants a fresh start after losing his wife to cancer. The renovation includes the kitchen, living room and bedrooms for each of the kids to call their own.

“This project, I think, means a lot more than most,” Cole DeBoer told the Argus Leader. “It meant the world to us and holds a special place in our hearts.”

Chelsea DeBoer added that they truly became friends with their client and his family.

“After his home was finished, we brought our kids over to play with his kids, which I think is such a Sioux Falls moment,” she said.

Season 2 of "Down Home Fab" will feature eight episodes, each one hour long, airing at 8 p.m. Thursdays on HGTV, as well as streaming on Max and Discovery+ the same day.

“We are excited for all the homes we worked on in the community,” Cole DeBoer said.

Inspired fans can also add a touch of “South Dakota glam” to their homes by visiting the couples' new storefront at the Bakker Landing strip mall in Tea.

About the DeBoers

Chelsea DeBoer grew up in Vermillion and was featured on the MTV series "Teen Mom 2." She met Cole DeBoer at a Sioux Falls gas station in 2014. They began dating and were married in October 2016.

They now raise their four children — Aubree, Watson, Layne and Walker — on a 25-acre farm in Sioux Falls, complete with goats, sheep, pigs, cows and alpacas.

The couple also started their own home renovation and design business after receiving positive feedback on their documented progress on social media in the spring of 2020.

With Chelsea DeBoer as the designer and Cole DeBoer as the hands-on project manager, the couple said they enjoyed the process of building their home “from the ground up” and were inspired to continue their passion for helping others do the same.

"Building our own home… it definitely ignited a spark," Cole DeBoer said.

Their goal was to show their clients how to take risks and go bold with their designs. Their signature style is a mix of South Dakota glam, cowhides, painting things black, bold and a touch of modern farmhouse.

Then their lives were forever changed after Chelsea DeBoer direct messaged HGTV on Instagram, stating that she felt HGTV was “missing out on some quality TV by not following our homebuilding adventures,” according to HGTV’s website.

It wasn’t long before they signed on with HGTV for a television series showcasing their renovating and designing business, as well as their rural South Dakota family life.

“HGTV fell in love with Sioux Falls and all of its character," Chelsea DeBoer said. "That’s part of the reason they wanted to do the show with us.”

Season 1 debuted in early 2023 and became the highest-rated freshmen series since May 2022, which prompted a rare mid-season renewal.

In January, Chelsea DeBoer shared that their show will be getting a second season in March 2024.

“Chelsea and Cole are spirited young entrepreneurs breaking ground in the home renovation business,” Betsy Ayala, senior vice president of programming and production at HGTV, said in a statement. “We’ll showcase their optimism and youthful creativity throughout the series, and we’re sure their 8.6 million Instagram followers will love every minute of it.”

The DeBoer family loves to explore and experience all that Sioux Falls has to offer.

“The Sioux Falls area is so wonderful. We are so proud to show this area and it’s an incredible place to raise a family and start a business,” Chelsea DeBoer said. "We’re always doing stuff in Sioux Falls. We’re looking for any events on weekends. We’ll take the kids."

“This is our roots, our home and we will be here forever," Cole DeBoer added of Sioux Falls.
