Update (March 7): The Sims 4 has rolled out a hotfix patch, addressing bugs raised by the community over the last week.

Bugs relating to disappearing moodlets upon reloading a save and body distortion when equipping crafted jewellery have been fixed, among other issues. The full patch notes can be read here.

With the body distortion bug, the patch notes state: "Corrected an issue where Sims' bodies would gradually change in size each time a Sim put on or took off crafted jewelry. The issue primarily affected Teens, Adults, and Elders. There was minimal impact to Young Adults.

"While this issue will no longer occur, this update does not retroactively fix the appearance of Sims who had already been altered."

PC, Mac, and Xbox players should be able to download the update right now. The patch is also expected to be released on PlayStation shortly.

Original story (March 6): The Sims 4 has acknowledged a number of recent bugs in the game, confirming that a hotfix patch is on the way.

Since last week's update coinciding with the release of the Crystal Creations pack, Simmers have been experiencing new issues hampering their experience.

One of the most commonly reported bugs involves moodlets disappearing upon reloading a save, which can have a noticeable impact on Sims' behaviour. Another relates specifically to the newest Stuff Pack and sees Sims' bodies distorting when equipping crafted jewellery.

On Twitter/X, the team posted an update on the situation, saying that these two bugs as well as issues surrounding recent game crashes will be fixed as a matter of priority.

"Sul sul. We appreciate your patience as we investigate reported issues with The Sims 4," they said.

"Our team is working on an e-patch that resolves a number of issues, including disappearing moodlets and gradual body distortion from crafted jewelry in Crystal Creations.

"The gradual distortion occurs each time a Sim puts on or takes off a piece of crafted jewelry. Sims will not choose to wear crafted jewelry on their own. To prevent further changes, avoid putting on or taking off crafted jewelry until the e-patch, where more info will be shared.

"This e-patch will also resolve the disappearing moodlets and the game crashes that began taking place from last week's update and release.

"We'll update this thread with a timeline on when you can expect this patch in game as soon as possible."

In a post on EA's Answers HQ page, where players can share bugs reports and feedback, one Simmer recalled an example where disappearing moodlets negatively affected their experience.

"My Sims' father, parent-in-law, grandfather just died before the patch," they said. "Guess what, no one is mourning anymore. I tested in a fresh save too: mourning-related moodlets are gone after save and reload."

Simmers have also been criticising the shopping cart button that was introduced last week.

For some players, the button — which gives recommendations for packs to purchase — is displayed in the top right during gameplay.

EA hasn't commented on these complaints, but a community manager has said that the feedback is being passed on and is being "heard".

Besides the new shopping cart button being added, last week's patch was largely aimed at fixing a number of older bugs, including issues surrounding saving the game while playing with the For Rent expansion.

The Sims 4 is available on PC, Mac, PlayStation, and Xbox.
