The Simpsons' 700th episode is set to air soon and in honour of the huge milestone, showrunner Al Jean has shared the future outing's title with fans.

Taking to Twitter yesterday (June 4), the executive producer posted a photograph of the installment's script, alongside the caption: "700th table read today."

In the image, it's revealed that the name of the episode is 'Senior Moment', and that it was written by J. Stewart Burns.

"That's simply amazing," an enthusiastic follower replied. "I'm happy for ya, Al. And congratulations to everyone who's worked on the show throughout the years. Truly a great group of people."

"Woo-hoo! Amazing achievement – first scripted US primetime show to hit 700 eps," another celebrated, before speculating whether the episode's title is a clue that it will centre on Homer Simpson's father Abe AKA Grampa.

"May the yellow fantasy continue," a third added, while many others were tickled pink by the rather *excellent* fact that the pre-recorded chapter was written by a "Mr. Burns."

Disney+ delighted fans of The Simpsons recently, by restoring the first few seasons of its catalogue to their original 4:3 aspect ratio instead of the updated 16:9.

"To support both the original 4:3 aspect ratio and the 16:9 versions of The Simpsons, we needed to challenge prior assumptions and rethink how content for streaming is packaged and delivered," Disney's vice president of media products, Joe Rice, explained at the time.

"We introduced a new Disney+ app feature today that not only gives fans a choice in video viewing formats, but also opens up a number of exciting opportunities for novel ways of presenting content in the future."

The Simpsons is now available to watch on Disney+ in the US and the UK.
