Simi council to discuss city manager post in closed session

Simi Valley's soon-to-be-vacant city manager position will be discussed during a special closed session meeting of the City Council Wednesday morning.

The council will meet in private to discuss a city manager appointment, the meeting agenda shows, and also for a conference with a labor negotiator regarding the position. No other items are on the agenda.

Current City Manager Brian Gabler is retiring at the end of June after working for the city since 1986. He has served as city manager since 2020. The council in the process of finding his replacement.

The council also held a special closed session on the topic last month.

The special meeting starts at 8 a.m. in chambers at 2929 Tapo Canyon Road. Public comments on the city manager post will be taken before the panel adjourns to closed session.
