Silo collapse in Lebanon County leaves one person dead

SOUTH ANNVILLE TOWNSHIP, Pa. (WHTM) — On Saturday, April 27 a silo collapsed in South Annville Township, which resulted in the death of one individual.

The Annville Cleona Fire Department says they responded to a building collapse on the 900 block of Mount Pleasant Road at 11:30 a.m. on Saturday.

The department says that the collapse involved a silo which tragically resulted in the entrapment of one individual, who was inside the solo at the time of the initial collapse. Around 1:10 p.m., a K-9 unit discovered a body within the silo.

Personal worked for 7 hours to ensure a safe recovery of the body.

Additional resources which include the Citizen’s Fire Company of Palmyra, Campbelltown Fire Company, Lebanon County Hazmat, and Lancaster County Rescue Taskforce were requested prior to the arrival of emergency responders on the scene.

As the scene unfolded, further emergency and heavy equipment support was requested.
