SILVER CITY, N.M. – Silver City MainStreet is reopening the Silco Theater this Friday, November 12, 2021. The theater will be offering first-run films on Friday, Saturday and Sundays at 7 p.m. In the works are private film clubs that will offer a wide selection of films.

The Silco Theater was renovated in 2015 as an economic development initiative of Silver City MainStreet and the Town of Silver City. Moving forward, the Town and Silver City MainStreet are working to make the Silco Theater a community event space in addition to serving as a movie theater. The movie industry is changing, so the Silco is pivoting to be more of a community event space.

Scott Zager has been hired as the Cultural Coordinator for the Silco and stated,”We want to have more parties, special events, lectures, and musical performances at the Silco. Silver City MainStreet is working on securing funds to complete the theater. We need a sprinkler system so we can open the balcony, and install a performance stage. It is really exciting to think of all the programming and events that can be held in this wonderful space.”
