Shu Qi is happy for Cannes Film festival nomination

18 Apr - Shu Qi recently expressed her happiness that her long-awaited film, "The Assassin", will be competing at the upcoming Cannes Film festival.

According to Oriental Daily News, speaking to the media at the promotional shoot for her upcoming film, "All You Need is Love", she expressed, "The entire film took three years to finish. Because of this film, my old injuries kept getting worse as well!"

Shu Qi admitted working in the Hou Hsiao-hsien movie has even made her swore off action films.

"But now that the movie will compete in Cannes, I can say that it is the best birthday present this year, and the best pain medication!" said the actress, who celebrated her 39th birthday on 16 April.

The actress, who has worked with the Taiwanese director three times, expressed her hopes that the film will win Best Picture in the upcoming awards, or at least Best Director for Hou.

"He is a director of the master level. I am here today because of him!"
