Shreveport schools closed on Thursday due to boil order

Some schools in Caddo Parish will be closed Thursday due to the city wide boil advisory.

The Department of Water and Sewerage issued a Louisiana Department of Health required boil advisory for the entire Shreveport system Wednesday afternoon. This advisory will affect all campuses operating on the City of Shreveport's water system hindering their ability to provide adequate drinking water and water used for cooking.

Caddo Parish Schools said that the district central office facilities will remain open Thursday as well as schools not on the City of Shreveport’s water system.

Those campuses are:

  • Northwood High School

  • Donnie Bickham Middle School

  • Blanchard Elementary School

  • North Caddo High School

  • North Caddo Elementary/Middle School

  • Mooringsport Elementary

  • Herndon Magnet School

  • Keithville Elementary/Middle School

These campuses will maintain normal operations on Thursday.

Extracurricular activities scheduled for Thursday will go on as planned. Visitors and participants are highly encouraged to bring bottled water with them.

Friday will be a Virtual Day and was previously scheduled as one in the 2022-2023 school calendar.
