Felony indictments were the reason three Shreveport Police officers were fired Friday, announced Interim Chief Wayne Smith.

One officer, Corporal Leroy Bates, 33, had been with the Department since February of 2009.

Bates was arrested on charges of third-degree rape in August.

The other two fired officers – William Isenhour and D’Andre Jackson – are accused of assaulting two arrestees in Shreveport. Jackson started with the Department in August of 2017, and Isenhour began the next July.

Isenhourand and Jackson, both 25, were indicted on federal civil rights charges last month along with another officer, Treveion Brooks, 26, for allegedly assaulting an arrestee to the point of bodily injury on Jan. 24, 2020.

The indictment is less specific about another assault the officers are accused of.

There’s been no announcement on Brooks’ status with the Department.

Federal civil rights charges can carry 10 year sentences.
