SHRED-A-THON 2024: Shred your documents for FREE with 8 On Your Side

TAMPA (WFLA) – The 8 On Your Side FREE Shred-A-Thon is set for Sunday May 5.

You can bring up to four boxes of personal documents including paper and electronic devices. We accept personal documents, no business-related documents. And remember, no metal binders and no cardboard and no plastic. WFLA staff members and volunteers will help unload your digital or paper items for no cost in this drive-through event.

“One of the cornerstones of the ‘8 On Your Side’ brand is to be our viewers trusted advocate and ally,” said Mark Higgins, General Manager of WFLA News Channel 8 and The CW Tampa Bay. “We are proud to host Shred-A-Thon which provides everyone an opportunity to keep their families safe from identity theft.”

The annual Shred-A-Thon will take place from 8 a.m. until noon at the South Parking Lot of Raymond James Stadium. It will be held in Lots 8, 9 and 10, located at 4201 N. Dale Mabry Hwy in Tampa.

Please note that southbound drivers will enter off Himes Ave at Lot 8/10 and northbound drivers will enter off Dale Mabry Hwy at Lot 9.

We will be closing the gates at noon so we can make sure everyone gets to the shredder before the event is over.

News Channel 8 anchors will be on hand, visiting car to car, handing out giveaways! Look for The Tampa Bay Buccaneers cheerleaders and mascot Captain Fear to pop up in the car line to say some hellos and snap some selfies to share on your social media pages!
