Showers and storms expected for Memorial Day holiday

NEW YORK (PIX11) – Sunday promises partly sunny skies and summer-like conditions, but the tri-state area may not be so lucky on Memorial Day.

A stray shower or thunderstorm is possible Sunday, especially south and west of the city. In addition, dew points will be a bit higher than yesterday, so it might feel slightly humid at times.

Highs will be in the upper 70s to low 80s. Coastal locations will only reach the low 70s.

As for Memorial Day, unfortunately, it is not looking like the best day weather-wise. An increase in clouds will be seen as a cold front makes its way towards us, and occasional showers and storms are likely.

Some severe storms may even move through during the evening. In addition, afternoon temps are only expected to reach the mid 60s to lower 70s.

Expect conditions to dry-out on Tuesday.
