Showers slowly return to the forecast; temperatures stay warm

COLUMBUS, Ga. (WRBL) — For the end of the week and heading into the weekend, high pressure slowly weakens, helping to let an advancing shortwave of energy into the region.

This energy will help drive in more rainfall chances and trending more towards a wetter pattern. A few stray showers and storms possible late Friday afternoon with highs in the mid to upper 80s.

For the weekend, higher rainfall chances come into the forecast primarily Saturday with scattered showers and storms. Daytime heating will help initiate most of the shower and thunderstorm development as we continue to transition into a more summer-time pattern.

Next week, as the shortwave exits the southeast, it will leave behind a zonal flow pattern (west to east) and will help keep rainfall chances in the forecast primarily in the afternoon and evening aided with daytime heating.

By Tuesday and Wednesday rainfall chances become limited as highs are expected to reach the lower 90s once again.
