Elmira, N.Y. (WETM) – Showers persist into midnight before we start to dry out before dawn. Then we stay dry into the end of the work week. More details below:

TONIGHT:

Showers will continue and become steady in the evening. Rain will persist into early Thursday before we start to dry out for the rest of the night. It won’t be too cold out, with lows dropping into the mid to upper thirties and a breeze from the north at 5 to 10 mph.

THURSDAY:

Clouds will be on the decrease for your Thursday. Skies will be sunny by the end of the afternoon. We will be drying out with highs near fifty and a breeze from the north at 5 to 10 mph.

WEEKEND:

We round out the work week with lots of sunshine. It will be pleasant with mostly sunny skies and highs in the upper fifties for your Friday. A low pressure system approaches the region on Saturday bringing in cooler air and more chances for showers. It will be cooler with highs in the upper forties. Behind a cold front, we will see chances for both rain and some snow across the region on Sunday. It will be cool out there with highs in the lower forties which is near average.

NEXT WEEK:

Some more flurries will be possible on Monday to start off the new work week. Otherwise it will be much drier out there. Skies will be mainly cloudy with highs in the lower forties. Clouds will be on the decrease on Tuesday. It will be much warmer out with highs in the lower fifties. Sunshine will persist into Wednesday for midweek with chances for some showers in the afternoon and evening. It will be pretty nice out with highs in the mid fifties.
