Shots fired in Pittsford Wegmans parking lot: What we know

Deputies are searching for the person who shot at a man inside another vehicle in the parking lot of Wegmans' flagship store in Pittsford on Wednesday morning. No injuries were reported, but the store at 3195 Monroe Ave. was temporarily locked down, according to the Monroe County Sheriff's Office.

What happened in the Pittsford Wegmans parking lot?

Capt. Kevin Schoepfel said that the incident occurred just after 9: 20 a.m. Wednesday. A man was sitting in the parking lot, waiting for his grocery delivery order when another vehicle pulled up and fired one shot at the man, he said. The shooter then drove off, deputies said. No injuries were reported, he said. No one - including the intended target - was struck by a bullet.

Was Wegmans closed after the shooting?

The store was placed on a temporary lockdown, which ended around 11 a.m. After deputies investigated at the scene, the store fully reopened early Wednesday afternoon. The store is open daily, from 6 a.m. until midnight.

Deputies reviewed surveillance video in the area and identified the vehicle they believed the shooter used - a grey sedan. Anyone with information about the vehicle, the driver or the vehicle owner is asked to call 911.
