Shots fired between man, deputies in Henderson Co.

HENDERSON COUNTY, N.C. (WSPA) – Shots were exchanged between a man and deputies Saturday evening in Henderson County.

According to the Henderson County Sheriff’s Office, deputies were called to respond around 6 p.m. to a disturbance after reports were received of a man with a gun threatening people in the North Mills River Campground.

After deputies arrived, the man left the scene and a chase began.

Officials said the man crashed his van and shots were fired from the vehicle resulting in an exchange of gunfire with units on the scene.

Per protocol, the deputies were placed on administrative leave. The North Carolina SBI is investigating.
