Shooting victim attempts to save woman from carjacking at South Nashville McDonald’s

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WKRN) — An investigation is underway after a man was shot and a woman was carjacked at a South Nashville McDonald’s Wednesday night.

The incident began just after 10:30 p.m. on Wednesday, April 17 at the McDonald’s in the 2200 block of Nolensville Pike.

According to Metro police, a 41-year-old man pulled into the drive-thru before another man approached him with a gun and demanded he get out of the vehicle. The driver said no and tried to flee, but the suspect allegedly shot him once in the face.

After he was shot, the victim drove around the parking lot three times in a panic and then saw the suspect confronting a woman in her parked Nissan Cube, authorities said. The shooting victim reportedly believed the woman was in imminent danger, so he drove toward the suspect, colliding with the Nissan and knocking the suspect off his feet.

Officials said the suspect got up, forcibly removed the uninjured 39-year-old woman from the Nissan, jumped in the car and drove away. Witnesses added that the Nissan, which had extensive damage on its driver’s side door, left the parking lot and got onto Interstate 440.

The shooting victim was taken to Vanderbilt University Medical Center with non-life-threatening injuries. As of Thursday, April 18, he is in stable condition, according to police.

Just after 8 p.m. Thursday, April 18, police said detectives recovered the carjacked Nissan off Louise Drive. Investigators are still searching for the suspect.
