Shooting suspect holed up in Dallas house

DALLAS (AP) — A man suspected of shooting a woman has holed up in a north Dallas house after leading police on a highway chase.

Police Senior Cpl. Sherri Jeffrey says investigators believe the suspect shot the woman Monday at a house in the Hamilton Park neighborhood.

Jeffrey didn't know the woman's condition or her relationship to the suspect.

A school near the home where the suspect was barricaded was on lockdown. A school district spokesman says the Hamilton Park Pacesetter Magnet school wasn't directly threatened and that all students are safe.

Television footage showed the man driving at through a neighborhood. The car ground to a halt as it hit a curb, the bumper flying off. The driver took off on foot to a nearby house.
