Shooting in Orange Mound leaves man dead

MEMPHIS, Tenn. — A man is dead after being shot in Orange Mound Wednesday night.

Memphis Police responded to a shooting in the 700 block of Buntyn Street at around 11:15 p.m.

A man was found shot and pronounced dead on the scene.

One Orange Mound resident says this is a common sight and sound in the neighborhood.

“I can’t hardly sleep at night, with that going on,” Ron Robertson, Orange Mound resident. “All I hear is boom, boom, boom, boom, boom.”

Robertson says for the past 25 years he’s called the area home.

“It happens every day,” he said. “It ain’t gonna stop until somebody do something about it.”

According to the city’s data hub, from May of last year to the present day, police have responded within a half-mile radius of the overnight attack 266 times.
