Shooting into occupied cars and homes leaves 1 injured in north Charlotte

CHARLOTTE (QUEEN CITY NEWS) — An investigation is underway following an assault and subsequent shooting in north Charlotte, according to Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police.

Officers responded to calls regarding the incident around 7 p.m. Monday, June 10, near 5922 Red Vest Way in north Charlotte. A 32-year-old man was found suffering from gunshot wounds and was transported to an area medical center to be treated. He has since been released. While no other injuries were reported, 12 victims were listed ranging in ages from 2 to 35.

Damage was reported on two vehicles and two homes and a handgun is listed as a weapon used in the crime, according to the police report.

An initial investigation stated that a woman assaulted multiple people including children with a blunt object, while a man shot into an occupied vehicle and two homes that were also occupied.

While there is no mention of an arrest or a suspect, the incident is classified as an aggravated assault and assault with a deadly weapon with the intent to kill.
