Shooting at Alton Memorial Hospital was not random: Police

ALTON, Ill. – A shooting at Alton Memorial Hospital in the early hours of Sunday morning left one person injured, according to police.

Around 1:44 a.m., Alton Police were notified of gunshots at the hospital. The building went under lockdown procedures and the hospital’s public safety team found one individual with a gunshot wound.

No other injuries were reported from the incident. The gunfire damaged one door.

According to a release, a preliminary investigation reveals this incident was not random and the victim was the intended target.
