Shooter kills man in Manhattan NYCHA complex just hours after wounding 96-year-old in Brooklyn

A man was shot to death inside a lower Manhattan public housing complex Monday by a gunman who also wounded a 96-year-old man with a stray bullet during a robbery gone wrong in Brooklyn earlier in the day, police sources said.

Sundance Oliver, 28, started his rampage near Bergen St. and Rochester Ave. in Bedford-Stuyvesant around 9:35 a.m., according to cops.

The elderly man was in a motorized wheelchair about 75 yards from where Oliver was sticking up a woman, sources said.

Oliver was aiming for the woman but hit the victim in the leg, instead.

He was rushed to Kings County Hospital, where his wife told the Daily News he was recovering.

Hours later, police clocked a white Mercedes Benz connected to Oliver coming over the Brooklyn Bridge into Manhattan, sources said.

Around 2:50 p.m., shots rang out in a sixth-floor apartment in the Smith Houses on St. James Place near Catherine Slip steps from NYPD headquarters, cops and sources said.

A 21-year-old man identified by friends and family as Kavon Langston was shot twice in the chest and once in the leg.

Oliver ran off and police later found the white Mercedes in the parking lot, sources said.

Langston was rushed to Bellevue Hospital, where he died.

His distraught brother struggled to make sense of the killing after the shooting.

“That was my brother,” said the man, who would not provide his name. “He never had no problems with anybody. We can’t believe this.”

Langston’s mother and sister, who were in the apartment but were not shot, were taken to the same hospital for observation, sources said.

“When I came up, there was a woman screaming in the hall that he’d been shot,” said a neighbor, who also asked not to be named. “Then there were police everywhere.”

Police are still looking for Oliver, who previously served time behind bars in Seneca County, N.Y., for robbery, records show.

He himself has been shot three times since 2012, sources said.

Oliver’s alleged attack marked the second fatal shooting in a city public housing complex within less than an hour Monday, cops said.

A 24-year-old man was shot once in the head outside the Marcy Houses in Bedford-Stuyvesant around 3:40 p.m., police said.

Medics called to the scene on Flushing Ave. near Marcy Ave. pronounced the victim dead at the scene.

As police investigated the shooting, the man’s lifeless body was covered with a white sheet.

There were no immediate arrests.
