Shiloh superintendent resigns

HUME, Ill. (WCIA) — Shiloh’s superintendent will be leaving the school district.

At their meeting Monday night, the Shiloh Board of Education accepted Superintendent Bill Myers’s resignation. A news release from the Board of Education described that the decision was made “amicably and mutually”.

While he will not resign until June 30, Myers is on administrative leave for the Spring semester due to familial loss.

Champaign School Board member resigns, citing ‘mistrust, missteps and misinformation’

“The Board of Education respects and supports Mr. Myers and his family’s privacy at this time, and wishes Mr. Myers success in his future endeavors,” the news release reads. “The Board of Education is committed to a smooth transition between Mr. Myers and the School District’s next administration.”

Myers additionally thanked the Shiloh school community for providing the best education to the students.

Shiloh Elementary and Junior High principal Morgan Wilhoit and Shiloh High School principal Amy Jones have been named as interim co-superintendents. Board of Education officials said they will post the position for a permanent superintendent and start conducting interviews soon.

The resignation comes after Pat Sanstrom, the husband of the former girl’s head basketball coach Jaye Sanstrom, called for Myers’ resignation and submitted at a February meeting. He alleges athletic director Terry Smothers verbally attacked Jaye at a game she was coaching in November 2023, and she was fired in retaliation after reporting it. A different member of the coaching staff told WCIA she believed Sanstrom’s firing was justified.
