Sheriff's Office: Child porn found on man's phone

May 10—THOMASVILLE- A Thomas County man has been charged with the sexual exploitation of children as part of an ongoing investigation of his personal devices.

According to Thomas County Sheriff's Office Captain Tim Watkins, the man was charged on Thursday, May 9, after search warrants revealed explicit imagery on his phone.

Watkins said the Sheriff's Office was contacted by the man's roommate at the time.

"His roommate, whom had access to [the man's] phone, found illicit photos within the phone," Watkins said.

The roommate then filed a complaint with the TCSO and turned the phone over to investigators.

Investigators secured a search warrant on the phone and found several videos and photographs depicting child pornography, Watkins said.

The suspect was interviewed by investigators and admitted that the phone did belong to him, but he denied all allegations of possessing child pornography photographs or videos.

Since the initial interview, TCSO have identified three additional devices belonging to the man. Search warrants have been obtained for these devices, where more charges may be filed following a further review.
