Sheriff’s office: Alcohol, speed believed to be factors in crash that left 2 critically injured

MCHENRY COUNTY, Ill. — Two women are injured after a single-car crash Wednesday morning in McHenry County that deputies believe speed and alcohol were factors in, according to the sheriff’s office.

The crash happened around 10:45 a.m. near Dean Street and Gayle Drive.

According to the McHenry County Sheriff’s Office, the driver left the roadway, came back onto the road, crossed into the opposite lane, left the roadway again, went into a yard, rolled over and hit a tree.

The passenger, who deputies said was not wearing her seatbelt, was thrown from the car. She was eventually flown to Advocate Condell Medical Center in Libertyville in critical condition, according to the sheriff’s office.

The driver, who was wearing her seatbelt, was also flown to Advocate Condell Medical Center in serious condition, according to the sheriff’s office.

The crash is still under investigation by the McHenry County Sheriff’s Office Major Traffic Crash Investigation Unit.
