Sheriff: Man arrested after Scott County, Virginia pursuit

SCOTT COUNTY, Va. (WJHL) — A man wanted for seven counts of probation violation was arrested after leading authorities in Scott County, Virginia on a pursuit Thursday, according to the sheriff’s office.

The Scott County, Virginia Sheriff’s Office (SCSO) reported that deputies attempted to locate David Allen Dean, 58, at his home on Fairview Road. Dean was reportedly wanted for seven counts of violation of probation.

Upon arrival, investigators learned that a 2006 Ford Mustang believed to be occupied by Dean had just left the home.

A sheriff’s office deputy and a trooper with the Virginia State Police attempted to conduct a traffic stop on the vehicle on Anglers Way Road at the intersection of US 23 South, the SCSO stated.

The vehicle reportedly refused to stop for police and fled toward Gate City on US 23. Additional deputies were able to deploy spike strips on the Mustang successfully; however, the vehicle continued to flee with the front tires destroyed.

The vehicle was reportedly boxed in by deputies as it went into the ditch line after exiting US 23 at the Gate City bypass.

Dean, the driver of the Mustang, was removed from the vehicle and arrested. A female passenger, identified by the sheriff’s office as Pauline Edith Dean, 46, was also arrested.

David Allen Dean was charged with the following:

  • Seven counts of probation violation

  • Assault on a law enforcement officer

  • Felony eluding

  • Abduction

  • Reckless Driving

During the pursuit, a sheriff’s office vehicle was reportedly hit by Dean. Deputies found a substance believed to be methamphetamine in Pauline Dean’s pocketbook, the release stated.

Crime Watch

Pauline Edith Dean was charged with possession of a Schedule I or II and possession of a Schedule V.

Both were taken to the Duffield Regional Jail. As of Friday, David Allen Dean is being held without bond and Pauline Edith Dean is on a secured bond.
