Sheriff: 4-day-old baby fatally injured in Greene County dog attack

GREENE COUNTY, Tenn. (WJHL) — A 4-day-old infant was fatally injured from a dog bite in Greene County on Monday, according to local law enforcement.

According to a release from the Greene County Sheriff’s Office, the incident took place at a residence in the county. The baby was reportedly bitten by a dog then taken to the Greeneville Community Hospital at around 10:30 a.m. Monday morning.

The release said the infant was then flown to the UT Medical Center in Knoxville where it later passed away from injuries sustained. The infant was transported to the Knoxville Regional Forensic Center for an autopsy, according to the release.

Greene County Sheriff Wesley Holt told News Channel 11 that the investigation into the death is ongoing.
