Shepard Smith’s Doomsday Hurricane Matthew Prediction: ‘You and Everyone You Know Are Dead’

Fox News anchor Shepard Smith went a little overboard in warning Florida residents to evacuate in preparation for Hurricane Matthew on Thursday.

“This moves 20 miles to the West, and you and everyone you know are dead,” he pronounced during a segment where he demonstrated the path of the Category 4 storm. “And your kids die too.”

The segment is going viral on social media, but didn’t completely capture Smith’s resigned doomsday predictions during coverage of the storm.

“We’ll be live all night long tonight; I won’t be because I’m going to a family wedding,” he explained in another segment. “So if you’re supposed to get out, go ahead and get out, ’cause if too many of you perish, they’ll send me down there and I need to go to this wedding, OK? Thanks.”

“welp at least hes honest,” one Twitter user said in reply to the video.

“Best comedy channel out there,” another quipped.

On a more serious and accurate note, Hurricane Matthew is expected to make landfall in Florida on Thursday evening. As reported earlier by TheWrap, Walt Disney World, Universal Studios and Sea World are all closing, while Louisiana State University and the University of Florida football game has been postponed.

Movie theaters on Florida’s Atlantic coast will also be shutting down due to the incoming storm.

While the theater closures are likely to cause a dip in the box office, including for the upcoming “The Girl on the Train.” an expert on such matters told TheWrap that the storm isn’t likely to have a long-lasting effect on ticket sales.
