Shenango Township business a total loss due to a morning fire

May 24—SHENANGO TOWNSHIP — A fire destroyed the Country Pie Shop in Shenango Township Friday morning.

Shenango Township Fire Chief Justin Barnes said fire companies were called at 10:05 a.m. to the shop at 341 Stony Hill Road, Route 301.

"It looks like it's going to be gutted and a total loss," Barnes said.

Barnes said when the owners came home — their house is adjacent to the shop — they found the shop on fire. The blaze began in the shop's bakery area.

Barnes said their home sustained a little bit of damage from radiating heat.

Barnes said there was fire coming from every window upon their arrival. Shenango Township firefighters, with assistance from neighboring fire companies extinguished the fire quickly.

"The cause is undetermined and the state police fire marshal is investigating," Barnes said. "It does not appear to be suspicious at this time."

Barnes said no one was injured in the fire.

Firefighters from Hermitage, Pulaski, New Wilmington, Jefferson Township and West Middlesex assisted.
