Shelton Sampson Jr., a 5-star WR and No. 2 recruit in Louisiana, announces top six schools

Five-star wide receiver Shelton Sampson Jr. is down to his final six schools, he announced on Instagram on Monday.

Sampson, the No. 2 recruit in Louisiana according to 247Sports Composite, has LSU, Alabama, Michigan, Florida State, Texas A&M and Oregon on his shortlist.

At 6-foot-4 and 181 pounds, Sampson is the No. 3 wide receiver and No. 32 recruit in the nation from the Class of 2023. The Catholic Baton Rouge star has also collected offers from Georgia, Florida and Oklahoma.

MICHAEL DAUGHERTY COMMITS TO LSU: 4-star Georgia safety Michael Daugherty has committed to LSU football

Sampson, if he were to commit to LSU, would be the highest-rated recruit in its 2023 class. Mac Markway, a four-star tight end and the No. 99 player in the nation, is currently the Tigers' most highly-regarded commit.

LSU has the No. 17 recruiting class in the nation and last week added commitments from four-star safeties Ryan Yaites and Michael Daugherty. The Tigers do have one wide receiver committed – also their only in-state recruit – in four-star prospect Omarion Miller.
