SHEBOYGAN — Wooden boards line the windows of the former Tower Academy building, 721 N. Sixth St., which is up for sale.

The property, owned by neighboring St. Clement's Catholic Church, was formerly occupied and rented by Sheboygan Area School District for seven years for at-risk students, grades 6 to 12.

SASD moved the program, now called CHANGE Academy, to a building on North Ninth Street. The district bought that property in 2019.

Weill Center demo rumors spread: Is Sheboygan's Weill Center being torn down? Here's what to know about the center's future and plans for the nearby area.

According to a statement from Mark Boehlke, SASD assistant superintendent of business services, the district prefers to own and maintain its own school facilities for the long term, rather than lease properties.

The former Tower Academy building will not be used for future congregation purposes, according to Mary Petrie, pastoral and administrative assistant for Northside Catholic Parishes.
