Shawano Middle School open for those without power as crews continue work

SHAWANO, Wis. (WFRV) – Residents in Shawano County who are still without power due to the major snowstorm that caused widespread outages are getting some relief.

Officials opened up the Shawano Middle School on Wednesday evening to those without power and who need somewhere to warm up and/or stay for the night.

“We understand the power companies are working as hard as they can, but unfortunately, it sounds as though many who don’t have power right now will still be out tonight,” stated the Shawano County Sheriff’s Office.

The shelter opened at 7:00 p.m., and several members of the Red Cross will be on site to help with accommodations. Showers are available, but officials are asking those to bring their own towels and toiletries.
