Is Shakira in a new relationship? This song’s cryptic lyrics appear to contain a clue

New song. Who dat?

Shakira recently dropped a tease of her latest single, “Nassau,” and after translating the lyrics, we can’t help but wonder: Is there someone new in her life?

“I had promised that I would never love again,” the pop star croons in Spanish. “You appeared to heal the wounds left by that one. I had closed that chapter and padlocked it up, but what do I do? I like you too much.”

Hmmm, let’s see now. Since splitting with the father of her two kids, soccer player Gerard Pique, in June 2022, the Colombiana has been linked with quite a number of eligible suitors.

A Google search revealed that back in December, she was spending quality holiday time with Argentinian music producer Rafael Arcaute. But that was then and this is now and the guy du jour, as per the Internet, is retired NFL MVP Julian Edelman, 37. The two were snapped together last month at her birthday party at Delilah in Brickell. So is he the one who healed the wounds left by “that one?”

We’ll await more clues when Shakira’s entire album drops on March 22. It’s called “Las Mujeres Ya No Lloran.”

Translation: “Women don’t cry anymore.”
