As the Facebook Live shows, the group of protestors followed orders after being told to leave he area because they were trespassing. When Shailene got to her RV, she found police waiting for her. “I’m being arrested,” she says during the last few minutes. “I was down there with everybody else. It’s because I’m well known. It’s because I have 40,000 people watching… so everybody knows, we were going to our vehicle, which they had surrounded and waiting for me with giant guns in the giant truck behind them just so they could arrest me.”

Following Shailene’s arrest on Monday, several celebrities voiced their support on Twitter.

Shailene has been a longtime supporter of the fight against the $3.8 billion project, which, if completed, would transport oil across North Dakota, South Dakota, Iowa, and Illinois. According to protestors, the project would threaten the main water source and several sacred sites of the Standing Rock Sioux Tribe’s reservation, which is within a half-mile of the pipeline.
