Shahed drones night attack damages high-voltage substation in the South

Russia attacked Ukraine with Shahed kamikaze drones overnight on April 5, resulting in damage to a high-voltage substation of NPC Ukrenergo in Ukraine’s southern oblast, Ukraine's Energy Ministry reported on April 5.

An overhead line was damaged in Chernihiv Oblast following the Russian attack, leaving 704 consumers in five settlements without electricity.

Russian shelling led to damage to several overhead lines near Nikopol in Dnipropetrovsk Oblast, noted the Energy Ministry, with some of them subsequently restored to operation. Additionally, the local solar power plant lost power.

The Ministry’s data indicates that 550,000 subscribers experienced a power outage in Kharkiv Oblast, including approximately 330,000 in Kharkiv.

One unit of generating equipment was accidentally disconnected due to technological reasons at one of the thermal power plants.

Simultaneously, there is no electricity shortage, and Ukraine's energy system remains stable and balanced, stated the agency.

Russian Shahed drones attacked on April 5, prompting an air alert in Ukraine’s southern and eastern oblasts overnight, with reported explosions in Odesa.

Russian troops attempted to attack an energy facility in Odesa Oblast, but all four drones were destroyed by the air defense, reported Southern Defense Forces spokesperson Natalia Humeniuk.

Russia utilized 13 drones against Ukraine during the night, all of which were successfully destroyed by the air defense, according to the Air Force.
