SGMC Urgent Care receives accreditation

May 4—VALDSOTA — SGMC Health has earned accreditation from the Urgent Care Association (UCA), a leading organization in urgent care medicine, the health system announced.{/span}

SGMC Urgent Care, located in North Lowndes, is the only urgent care facility in this region with this accreditation signifying its commitment to providing high-quality, patient-centered care, according to a press release from SGMC Health.

SGMC Urgent Care, open extended hours and almost every day of the year, treats nearly 30,000 patients annually.

"Urgent care facilities play a vital role in the health of communities and this achievement underscores our commitment to ensuring the care we provide is appropriate, timely, and efficient," shared Elizabeth Flail, DO, co-medical director for SGMC Health's Emergency Department and Urgent Care. "Since moving our services to a stand-alone facility in early 2023 we have seen record volumes of patients. Now that we have a recognized standard of excellence for operations, we look forward to expanding to additional locations in the region to serve more in the future."

Accreditation by the UCA involves a rigorous evaluation of various aspects of urgent care delivery, including clinical practices, patient safety, and operational efficiency.
