A sexy waterproof handset is apparently heading to Verizon

Sony is still struggling when it comes to establishing a fruitful relationship with U.S. carriers, but it looks like the Japanese giant has scored a major deal with Verizon, which will apparently soon launch Sony’s newest flagship Android handset. While Verizon has yet to officially announce the Xperia Z2, Sony jumped the gun and mistakenly published a press image of the device, complete with a Verizon logo, on its Sony Xperia Google+ page. The picture was quickly deleted, but not before being picked up by Droid Life.

“Be prepared for every adventure in the great outdoors with the waterproof and dust-resistant Xperia Z2,” the Google+ post read, without making any reference to Verizon. Similarly, the fine print does not mention Verizon in any way – instead it explains what the Xperia Z2′s dustproof and waterproof ratings mean. However, the Verizon logo on the top side of the handset is clearly visible in the image.

In early January, famed leaker @evleaks revealed on Twitter that Sony’s 2014 flagship will launch with Verizon later this year. “Sony Sirius (2014 flagship) tipped for MWC debut: 5.2-inch display, MSM8974AB SoC, and a home on Verizon in the U.S.,” he said.
