Sexual battery charge dropped against Delaware County Management Director

MIAMI, Okla. –District Attorney Doug Pewitt dismissed the sexual battery charge against the Delaware County Emergency Management director days before his jury trial was to start.

Jeff Reeves, 59, of Miami, was scheduled to go to trial on May 28 in Ottawa County District Court.

District Judge Jennifer McAffrey confirmed on Tuesday the district attorney’s office dropped the charge earlier this month after the alleged victim was reluctant to proceed.

“My client has maintained his innocence from the beginning.
He is going to go forward with his life and put this behind him.”

Winston Connor II, Reeves’s attorney.

The charge was filed in 2022.

Reeves denied the allegations, but the woman passed a polygraph test, according to an arrest affidavit.

In the initial report, Reeves and the woman attended a party in July 2022 in rural  Ottawa County.  The intoxicated woman was driven home alone by Reeves while Reeve’s wife brought the woman’s child in a separate vehicle, the affidavit states.

During the drive to the victim’s residence, the woman accused Reeves of inappropriately touching her.
