Sex offender in Valdese violated probation guidelines: Sheriff

BURKE COUNTY, N.C. (QUEEN CITY NEWS) – A sex offender in Valdese accused of violating probation guidelines is now facing charges, the Burke County Sheriff’s Office said Friday.

A two-day undercover operation was launched on Tuesday regarding 49-year-old Valdese resident Thomas Whisnant.

Whisnant is a registered sex offender and was arrested and charged with failure to comply with probation guidelines.

US Marshals, a Burke County fugitive task force, and a narcotics division were among the departments that were involved in the investigation.

He is being held without bond.
