Sex crimes, theft top Whitley County indictments

May 20—WHITLEY COUNTY — The Whitley County Grand Jury's report for May includes two men accused of possessing child pornography as well as one man accused of defrauding the Pepsi Cola Bottling Plant.

Trenton Shoemaker, 27, of Hyndman, PA has been indicted on eight counts of Possession or Viewing of Matter Portraying a Sexual Performance by a Minor; one count of Prohibited Use of Electronic Means to Induce a Minor to Engage in Sexual or Other Prohibited Activities; and six counts of Distribution of Obscene Matter to Minors.

The charges state that this purported illicit activity took place on or about March 8 of this year.

In a separate indictment, Mark McFadden, 35, of Corbin, was charged with eight counts of Possession of Matter Portraying a Sexual Performance by a Minor.

The indictment alleges that McFadden viewed illicit material depicting a child under 12 years of age in a sexual performance on or about December 18, 2023.

In other news, grand jurors indicted Aleczander Coffman, 20, of Williamsburg, on a count of Fraudulent Use of Credit Card Over $500 within Six Months for allegedly utilizing a credit card belonging to Pepsi Cola Bottling Company of Corbin to procure $8,722.95 worth of gasoline within a six-month period. The indictment also alleges that Coffman was not an authorized user of the card.
