Sewage issue closes multiple Alleghany Highland Public Schools on Thursday

ALLEGHANY COUNTY, Va. (WFXR)– Alleghany Highlands Public Schools have closed Alleghany High School, Jackson River Technical Center, Clifton Academy, and Covington Middle School on Thursday, March 14.

According to the school district, on Tuesday Alleghany High School had a plumbing problem that has yet to be resolved. These schools are closed to allow maintenance crews to continue working and resolve the problem.

Inflation frustration continues as household bills are on the rise

Other schools will remain closed due to an overlap of students and transportation. This is the second day in a row AHPS has closed these four schools.

The school district says all elementary schools will be open on Thursday.
