Several pop-up food distribution sites planned in coming months

LAS VEGAS (KLAS) — Grocery prices are biting into budgets everywhere, especially in Nevada. A recent report revealed Nevada leads the nation with the second-highest grocery costs in the U.S., trailing behind California.

Three Square Food Bank, southern Nevada’s only food bank and largest hunger relief organization, is responding to the growing demand for groceries by hosting additional food site distribution locations from March to July.

“Right now, there are so many people who just need a little help. The rising costs of housing, groceries, gas, everything is really impacting people’s budgets,” said Three Square Chief Development Officer Michelle Beck. “If they can get a little bit of help with food, it helps families to spread their dollars in different ways and make sure that they can take care of all the needs they have.”

One in eight people in Southern Nevada are food insecure, while one in six children live in a food insecure household. The nonprofit organization is working — in partnership — with The Emergency Food Assistance Program (TEFAP) to supply 65 to 70 lbs. of fresh, nutritious food to Las Vegas’s most vulnerable population.

The pop-up food distributions will take place at the following locations. Walk-up and drive-thru service will be available at all sites.
