Several Held In Kim Kardashian Paris Robbery Case

Police claimed a breakthrough in the case after three months as they arrested 16 individuals through planned early morning raids in Paris, Normandy and the French Riviera region.

French law enforcement authorities have reportedly arrested 16 suspects believed to be involved in the armed robbery that occurred at the reality TV star Kim Kardashian West’s hotel apartment in Paris in October.

Kim was reportedly tied up after being threatened with a gun and locked up in the bathroom of her apartment on Oct. 3 when the 36-year-old was in Paris to attend the Paris Fashion Week with her mother Kris Jenner and sister Kendall Jenner. Masked men with police markings on their jackets escaped with a loot of jewelry estimated to be worth $10.5 million.

But police claim to have made a breakthrough in the case after three months as they arrested 16 individuals through planned early morning raids in Paris, Normandy and the French Riviera region. Authorities have also recovered money and documents in the raids, according to Agence France-Presse, which cited a police source.

The breakthrough in the case came through an analysis of DNA traces that were left in the crime scene. The police subsequently kept the individual under surveillance and arrested the man’s accomplices. Those arrested are believed to be in their 50s, while the oldest suspect is aged 72, according to French media reports.

"One of the DNA samples matched an individual known to police for robbery and criminal offences," police said, according to BBC. Police are believed to be able to hold the suspects for questioning for up to 96 hours, according to the Guardian.

The report about the arrest comes just days after Kardashian opened up for the first time about the incident. In the aftermath of the incident, her husband Kanye West canceled his tour after reportedly suffering a breakdown.

But in a new promotional trailer for the new season of "Keeping up with the Kardashians," Kim can be seen in tears while recounting her ordeal as she exclaims that she was certain that the intruders would “shoot me in the back.” “There was no way out,” she said.
