Several departments respond to early-morning factory fire in Bradford County

TOWANDA, Pa. (WETM) — Alarms rang across the county Monday morning as several departments were called out to a structure fire at a chemical factory in Towanda.

According to a post from the Bradford County Department of Public Safety, sometime after 1 a.m. on Monday, April 15, a fire was reported at Global Tungsten & Powders Corporation in Towanda.

The release said that the fire was contained by the GTP Fire Brigade at the factory when crews arrived and that no chemicals were released.

The damage was reported as minimal and no one was injured, with no risk of hazards to the community.

Units from North Towanda Fire Department, Towanda Fire Department, Ulster-Sheshequin Fire Department, Monroe Hose Company, Wysox Fire Department, Athens Boro Fire Department, Ulter EMS, Guthrie EMS, Greater Valley EMS, and Bradford County EMA were all called to the scene to assist. Units were cleared of the scene and back in service within an hour of the initial call.
